Helping our youth make a friend and be a friend!
Mission of Seth’s Giving Tree: “To promote Christian values through projects and programs that will impact the lives of the youth in Lancaster County, SC. Growing faith, hope, respect, integrity, and generosity for our future.”
Purpose: The purpose of Seth’s Buddy Bench is to teach the students in Lancaster County how to be a friend. This bench will help teach these students how to use their kind behavior to reach out to each other. If you are on the bench, others are encouraged to ask you to play or simply talk to each other. Seth’s Buddy Benches were made to help with personal interactions, create new friends and minimize bullying.
Schools: All elementary schools in Lancaster County are participating. Our goal is to place a bench on every elementary school playground (38 Benches). We want all of the students at these schools to feel empowered to sit on the bench or to play with someone who is sitting on the bench. The benches are powder coated steel. The cost will be $1,400 per bench.
Why Seth’s Buddy Benches were created: Lisa Muennich- “I saw a post on Facebook from a family friend that told the purpose of the Buddy bench in a very simple, but impactful way. I had been praying about how we could do more in the community to show Christ’s love in an everyday way. You see, Seth was a bit awkward in elementary school. He was so much taller and bigger than his classmates and was picked on because of it. Seth was also the first one to invite others to join an activity, club, or event. We heard from several “new kids” who said that Seth was the first person to reach out to them. Seth’s Buddy Bench was a perfect fit for who Seth was and to our mission.”
